  • If you're looking for a slightly better spec DVD recorder, try your local Aldi. There was one on their special offers (in-store this week) that was a hard drive and DVD-RW combined.

160GB of internal memory (enough to record 200 hours), DVD recorder/player and a feature where you can pause the telly (not sure what the technical name is!) It also comes with a three year warranty. Price £229.99

Can't remember who makes it, but Aldi electronic stuff is usually excellent quality.
  • Yeah, but they don't have the video plus+ feature, which is what you want really for taping from the TV, just incase the cricket or tenis over run.

Video Plus won't help with programme over-runs. I think you're thinking of PDC (Programme Delivery Control) ...which I've personally never got to work.

 This is GENERAL advice - dependent on individual video. PDC is very dependent on signal strength and clarity - check all your video connections and try search-retuning. For Satellite channels, some do PDC and some (most) don't - select video channel on TV, desired TV or sat channel on video and desired sat channel on digibox - with on-screen display (OSD) on video set to ON (via MENU), OSD should tell you if PDC signal being transmitted/received. Personally for sat recording I find check the EPG as late as possible, SELECT for reminder, TV Guide and Personal (0), RED for Autoview is the most reliable way

PDC, brilliant, works 99.5% of the time, have only recently had a problem with the late night films on BBC1, the one where the weather follows, it only recorded the weather!

Went into my local store a couple of days ago @ Newmarket Rd, Cambridge and there were around 6 of these stacked in the clearance section! Didn't get one unfortunately but would've been a great buy!
