I'm BR but my wife wants to work

I've just been made BR, just 2 days ago infact, now my question is my wife wants to work as a seasonal caravan cleaner which she has done in the past, she could potentially earn around £160 a week in the busy months.
The thing is, if I chose to use my wifes bank account for my wages to go into as well of hers, this would odviously enable me or us to save more, for example the OR could see that not only can I save the money I was paying on my debts, but saving quite a substantial amount of my wifes wages aswell.
So could this encourage the OR to take more of my money as I will be able to save even more than before she was working if you see what I mean?
In other words is it worth her working?

What you OH earns is nothing to do with your OR as long as she is contributing her share to the houshold expenditure ( ie 50/50) they cant ask for any of it if thats the caseThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….

If she is not bankrupt then her income cannot be touched directly by the OR.
But they will want to know how much she is contributing to the household expenses. If you had been paying everything up until then, the money she contributes may result in your surplus that is claimable under an IPA going up.
It's a bit of a tricky one to judge.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yes thats exactly what I mean't, like there will be more of my wages left than if she wasen't working.
Only problem is she only works seasonal, it could be all over as early as October, and no garantees what she will earn form week to week.
Would you say its almost not worth her working if the OR takes more of my money as she doesn't really earn that much some weeks, like only £60 some quiet weeks.0 -
I think it would still be worth her working since, like the overtime, the OR may only going to be bothered if it is something that effects your surplus substantially and consistently.
When the OR sets up an IPA they don't really want to have the bother of changing it every month.
Plus if she is earning she wouldn't be expected to put all of her income into the household expenses, just a contribution that is proportionate to your relative earnings.

I would ring the OR and explain this to them, The worst they can do is take a little of the money and either way you will be a bit better off.
Hope your feeling better now youve got your BR, the worst is now over.

Are the caravans now clean?0 -
I opened a Nationwide Flex Basic account within days of my bankruptcy. It's a basic current account with no cheque book. You can have your wages paid in, set up direct debits etc.
I'm still using it now even though I've been discharged for a little while now. Just set up a new bank account with NW and leave your wife to use her own account.0
