Problems with - Surprise Surprise - Lloyds TSB

As some of you know, my biggest debt is with Lloyds Bank, and the biggest problem right now is a credit card that sits at about £100 over my credit limit.
Now, I know it was stupid to get the card, and even dafter to run up the bill on it, but that's done now and I have to deal with the consquences.
On friday last week (a week ago yesterday), I sent a letter to Lloyds requesting that they consider stopping the interest charges and accepting a payment of £20 a month for 5 months to clear the outstanding arrears. This, I feel, is reasonable as I work part time shift work with a wage that swings dramatically from £200 to about £400 depending on hours worked. So £20 would be the minimum I could pay on the minimum wage that I get, if that makes sense.
I had a call from them yesterday in which the man was extremely rude. I informed him that I had sent a letter regarding the debt and I was awaiting responce from that. He said he had recieved no letter, so I offered to fax it. Off it went. He called back saying that the claims I was making were lies - Not sure how he worked this out as my account application clearly states part time work! He said that in light of this, no allowances would be made and they would still be expecting full payments.
I assume they can do this, but do I have grounds to rechallenge the decision? Also, with each correspondance, either letter or phone call, the amount they want seems to change. I have three letters in front of me, two demanding payment and one statement that have amounts to pay of £24, £56 and £32 pounds. When I call them, they quote amounts between £70 and £100. However, whatever payment I make doesn't seem to be good enough and they continue to chase me!

i also have had major probs with lloyds mine regarding an overdraft they dont respond well to letters for some reason-maybe all the staff can only read pound signs. anyway when i write to them i also send a copy to the complaints department and they are pretty good at responding although because mine is bank charges they can not deal with it at the moment. but at least you can go through the comlaints dept and hopefully resolve your payments i hope you managed to get the name of the rude person on the phone it is always good to name and shame them in the complaints letter
good luckgoal for 2014....i will manage money better ..must resist shopping..............:A0
