Any toddlers Activities Leeds Saturday?
Looking for something to do with my little boy who is 16 months Saturdays.
I want to find activities that keep him active (unlike me
) and help him mix confidently with others (again, unlike me
)
All suggestions very gratefully received.
BTW has anyone tried tumbletots and/or gymboree and are they any good? Willing to find money for what he needs.

We have a two year old and also live in Leeds. No need to spend much if you don't want to.
Plenty of free parks and playgrounds - Roundhay, Kirkstall Abbey.
Golden Acre Park to feed the ducks.
Temple Newsam - £3 for adults for the farm entry, free if you buy a Leeds Card.
We also have a Harewood Card which is £70 for the first year, but you can go anytime without paying anything more (it's normally £10 per adult entry fee) and visit the bird garden, house and play area. They also have children's events - Noddy being the next biggie over May Day bank holiday weekend.0 -
Thank you - I have a Leeds Card and I think it is brilliant.
It's just that I'm looking for activities for him that help be active, which I'm rubbish at.:o:o Also if it is structured activities then he meets with little ones his age, none in the family.
I shall certainly look into Harewood - he loves the ducks, and feeds them at Roundhay and in the Tropical House he loves the animals (free with Leeds Card)
Going to try Tumbletots, but I just wondered if there is anything else.
Thank you for the suggestions though, I hadn't thought of Harewood.(there should be a numpty smiley)

Never tried the Tumbletots etc, but our daughter is at nursery 4 days a week and spend most of this time tumbling around, she needs three days to recover! There is an activity centre on Dewsbury Road which a neighbour goes to quite often.
Don't forget Ilkley Lido too, should the sun ever shine.0 -
Thanks, I will look into that - I live in south Leeds so Dewsbury Road is a good idea.
DS doesn't go to nursery, and while I am planning to start with mums & tots groups, he hasn't been to any yet. Obviously I play and cuddle with him, but he seems so relaxed when he meets others and I'm rubbish
I suppose that's why I'm looking for something structured, because then I can fit in and then with a bit more confidence get him into other less structured stuff.
Thank you for the tips - I've never been to Ilkley Lido, so I shall investigate that - it sounds very exoticAlways another chapter0 -
Hiya - we have a 2 year old and live in Morley so I'm really interested in everyone's suggestions too! I also know exactly where you're coming from - I'm quite shy and want my little one to be confident with other children even though I find it hard to strike up conversations with people I don't know.
Leeds card is brilliant !!:j and I'm with everyone else in recommending the farm at Temple Newsam and Tropical World.
We also go to Meanwood Urban Farm a lot which isn't too far from South Leeds - don't know if you drive but the 51 Morley Leeds bus drops you right by the farm.
Kirkstall Abbey have structured activities now and then - usually in the holidays and so do Oakwell Hall (near Birstall) & Crow Nest Park (Dewsbury). It's best to check out when events are on first though for these places. Bit further afield but National Media Museum in Bradford is good and often runs events plus Eureka! in Halifax (which is a bit pricey I think but does do some holiday activities).
The play gym on Dewsbury Road is the best one in the local area, I think.
Before I went back to work, I went to a mums and tots session run by health visitors held at the Salvation Army Hall in Morley. From memory there were 2 separate groups - one for crawling babies and one for toddlers. It was really good - very friendly and lots of really nice toys etc.
Will try and remember some more things we have found tomorrow (bit sleepy at the mo!)0 -
monkeymagic11 Thank you so much. It's really useful seeing this information.
I think I am going to have to conquer my fear of going on a bus with DS.My pushchair won't fold flat unless DH does it, as I'm not strong enough to work the catches
Went to the Royal Armouries today and it is being rebuilt - there was no place easy to get something to eat that we could share with DS, so we ended up in the White Rose Centre. There was something going on with that shop where you make your own bear. We didn't take part, just stumbled across it because I dread to think how much it cost. DS took one look at the man dressed as a penguin and howled the place down
Meanwood Urban farm sounds ideal - DS loves animals, and he is normally very placid  Thank you for the bus route - it will be brilliant for DS.Always another chapter0 -
Hi,
I have organised an event in the Alexandra Hall at Morley town hall for Friday 25th July 2008 from 10am till 4pm. My event is called the Happy families event, It is free entry and there will be lots of companies coming along that provide activities. To name a few there will be Baby ballet, The party genie and Barefoot books.
Please come along and find out what activities are available locally.
If anyone has or knows someone who has a business dedicated to families who would like to find out how they can take part in the event ask them to contact myself on 07817652629.
Hope this helps and I look forward to seeing as many of you on the day as possible!!
