If enough of us are going, we might be able to get a decent rate on a group booking for somewhere like a Travel Lodge, Thistle Hotel or a good B&B. And if there should be any karaoke on or near the premises, even better.
I'd rather camp then stay in a Travel Lodge, less likely to have some nasty bugs biting you

Well, if they bit me they wouldn't come back for seconds - I take loads of medications, so they'd be on their backs in seconds.empty_wallet wrote: »I'd rather camp then stay in a Travel Lodge, less likely to have some nasty bugs biting you

I haven't stayed in a travel lodge in ages, so I'll take your advice on that. Still not doing the groundsheet thing though.
Got to go to the radio station now, so I'll check for updates later.

Oh i've stayed in a few over the years and in my previous job they were one of our clients for a bit and we did the auditing of the sites, they are not called a budget hotel for nothing

Good morning all,
If you book far enough in advance there are some good deals available with Travelodge. Some of their "hotels" are a little basic, whereas others are o.k. The only problem is that they're not always in close proximity to a pub/restaurant.
There's some examples here:

Premier Travel Inns are better, but they're usually around the £60 per night mark, and they don't do deals.
Camping sounds like a lot of fun, but I think my O.H would want a hotel room reserved; just in case.

I know of a very good travel lodge just south of birmingham;) . Right by motorway junction. Heard they do fantastic steak and there is a 2 4 1 pub(food) just up the road for a cheap meal!.

Sounds good Dalip.
Also helps that someone (you) know the place and the facilities.:jThe first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter
