Recently discovered that Arriva Buses in the North East have a Teen Card for use in the County Durham and Darlington areas.
You can apply for a Teen Card for any young person between the ages of 5 - 17 years despite it being called a Teen Card. It is valid until 31st January AFTER their 18th birthday.
The card entitles them to travel on Arriva buses for a maximum fare of 50p per single journey (no return tickets) and can be used after 6pm on schooldays, all day at weekends and during most school holidays.
To get a Teen Card for your child just download and print off the form (you only need to print page 2) fill it in and post it off with a cheque or PO for £5, two passport sized photos and a copy of their birth certificate to the address on the leaflet. Link to PDF here
Arriva have been heavily plugging a different card in our local schools, it's free but it only offers half price travel for 14 - 17 year olds, they've kept very quiet about the Teen Card which is a much better deal, just a few tiny posters on a few buses.
We live in a rural area and the return fare to town is usually over £5 for over 14's so the Teen Card offers a huge saving for my kids.:j
I've done a search and can't see this posted anywhere else, my apologies if it already is.
