Hello there,
I have posted previously regarding these 'people' but just don't know what to do next. In a nutshell:
Got a card from MH - rang the number. Gave the reference number and was told it related to a debt last accessed in 1996 (a storecard). I told them I believed this was paid off and would look into it - call ended.
Found this site and the horrors of MH. Have since received numerous telegram-type letters requesting me to contact, and I have replied at least twice with the statute-barred letter etc. Seemed to stop things for about 3-4 months then telegrams, this time stating that they were attempting to contact me and asking that if I was not the person stated could I ring them (this is after receiving letters from me - what's all this about?) Again have not replied any further, but today got the '7 days or we send the boys round letter.'
Don't actually know where to go from here, not looking forward to anyone at the house, especially if I am at work and my disabled wife is in alone. Any help greatly appreciated.

Complain to the Office of Fair Trading and Trading Standards(better off complaining to their local one)and tell them that they are sending out threatograms on a statute barred debt.
MH are notorious for buying up these type of debts and then trying to get you to pay them.....there classic one is you`ve acknowledge the debt because you`ve phoned us or spoken to us:rolleyes:
Also they hardly ever send anybody round nevermind `the boys`and even if they do you don`t even have to speak to them, infact IF they do turn up don`t even open the door...... or open your top window and pour burning oil on them....:rotfl:"Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
thanks for the reply. Wish I could understand howthey still get away with things like this - if so many people are affected, and trading standards etc are aware of them, why has nothing been done???0
