Hi, just wondered if you could advise please? If you are declared BK and you are paid wages by BACS direct into your bank, how do you manage? Also, is your employer told? Any advice very welcome

you don't need to tell employer except if your an accountant etc
Open another bank account - in some instances (as I experienced today) if you have a bank account with a positive or nil balance the OR will fax them and ask them for permission for you to continue to use it until you sort out a new account with Co-Op or Barclays0 -
Are Co-op and Barclays the only ones who will accept BRs then?0
-
Yes really.
Co-Op is the most BR friendly, with a Visa Electron debit card, direct debits and standing orders plus online banking.
It does take some weeks for the account to be opened, so I would heartily suggest that you ask a nice relative or best mate to allow you to have your wages paid into their account in the interim period.
Best of luck!0 -
To be on the safe side I've had my first wages paid into my mother's account to be on the safe side so there is nothing to stop you using a friend / relatives account until you get sorted.0

Just wanted to add that when I was made BR in 2005 I opened a basic Abbey account, no problem. You can have direct debits set up and you get a cashpoint card. I also had my wages paid into it through BACS.
Now I'm discharged I have a basic halifax account which has a visa electron card which can be used just about anywhere, apart from Travelodge for some reason!!
:rolleyes:0 -
Unfortunately Abbey seem to not be BR friendly now. It's more than likely an account would be refused or one you opened before BR would be closed.

Don't mean to doubt you but probably a bad example, being a bit of a pedantic here but accountant is a very loose title... if you're a "practising" accountant and manage the accounts for a company or persons then maybe but having accountant in your job title isn't necessarily an issue
my job title is european vat accountant and it makes no difference to my BR.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0
