Bankrupt 10:20 Today

Hi everyone
Just typed a rather long post but it's gone in to cyber space
so this is a cut down version
Wow - what a day
Went to court at 9.30
Seen at 9.40
Woman checked through documents, made a few amendments, previous addresses where debt were accumulated (even though I been living at current address for over 3 years)
Took my money, counted it, checked it under the detector!
Got me to swear an oath
Took me to the district judge office, waited 20 minutes, two people got called in to see him (not BR related matters)
The usher came out with my file, took me back down to the woman I saw initially
She said I need to fax some details over to the OR - I said but I haven’t seen the judge - she looked at my file and said “ you’re bankrupt - he’s signed the BR petition”
20 minutes later I was on the phone to the OR - Natalie from Blackpool office, really friendly
Few confirmation details, informed me I would receive a BR pack within 7-10 days with a letter informing me of my telephone interview which could last up to 2 hours.
She asked if I had any questions, mentioned about my bank account / salary - she got my sort code and account number - said they would fax Abbey and ask if I could still use the account - she said they don’t have to give me access but worth a try.
Went back to the woman at the desk - she gave me a copy of my BR order - said I might need to show this to any creditors in the short-term - that was that
Done and dusted by about 11.15
Went to estate / letting agents - paid by bond for my new rented property - so moving in to that in 2 weeks tomorrow - I was up front and told them about my pending BR a couple of weeks ago - the estate agent manager was ace - he spoke to the landlord - fine with it too.
Went to Barclays - they can’t open the account at the branch as they need to credit check and she said “I don’t think you’re allowed a credit check”??? !!! so I have to fill out the app form and send it off for the account to be opened! Bizzare?
I would like to thank everyone that has provided me with advice, guidance or just words of wisdom - I didn’t know where to turn - the advice (from many posts I have made) have been unbelievable - you have helped me like I couldn’t begin to tell you!
I didn’t want to go BR - never thought I would - unfortunately I didn’t have any other option (besides the 18.20 flight to Alicante with the bond money if it went wrong today) but I can see the BR is the only solution - and it is something I need to live with - I’m sure it’ll be tough
I know that I’ll end up with an IPA paying about £500 a month - but that’s far better than my previous position.
I’ll keep you informed of my OR and I’ll also provide words of wisdom/support to others and also just keep checking back for general info which appears to be useful even after BR
Thank you all again - You’ve been unbelievable!!

Well done Colmac. Sooo glad it went smoothly for you. I plucked up courage today and rang my local court - have my BR appointment for 7th May 10am. Like you, never thought I'd be here and not too happy about it, but hey, I can't go in any other direction right now and I know it'll all be all right in the end.
Go have a LARGE drink and enjoy your weekend.
