Am I on the right tax code? 543L

Hi,
Really confused about the tax code I should be on.. I earn 18k a year and have been consistantly on tax code 543L, until last months pay when it changed to 603L (which was great as I paid £70 less tax) but now this month it has gone back 543L and I back paying more tax again!
I know the personal tax allowance changed in september and thought my pay should have changed that month (and stayed consistant!). Any ideas?
Appreciate anyone help or advise, thanks
