Default notice from Smile and Braemar

Hopefully quite a quick one but I'm a bit confused.

I wrote to Smile with my budget and proposals for reduced payments (I have a credit card and current account with them)

They wrote back flatly refusing and demanding all sorts of things - copies of mortgage statements, payslips etc etc. Oh and they said they were going to close my current account in 28 days. Meanwhile they were ringing me up about my credit card. I pointed out I was in contact and they apologised.

I wrote back to Smile pointing out I thought their demands were excessive, and generally that I couldn't pay what I didn't have. Meanwhile I have been getting phone calls (which I tend to ignore) every day from 9am to about 10pm on both my home and mobile phones.

Yesterday I got 3 letters from Smile. One was about my credit card arrears, and they told me they may accept reduced payments (oh really?), the other was a Notice Of Default, and yet another was a standard letter from their complaints department saying they were investigating my complaint.

So what should I do? Should I write back, or wait to see what happens when they've dealt with the complaint?

As for Braemar, they also flatly refused my proposals, saying my mortgage was in joint names. I wrote back saying this was irrelevant as only I pay the mortgage, and to reconsider. No reply just a standard Notice of Default, not even an acknowledment of my letter. Again, should I write back, or wait?
