Remortgage questions...

Hi all

I have posted on here a couple of times re: remortgaging..

I have an appointment with Halifax (my current lender) tomorrow & would like to ask advice pls.

They are currently offering on their website 5.99% fixed for 5 years with £699 product fee or 5.99% fixed for 3 years £499 fee (my mortgage doesnt end until 28 Jul 08 so when would this product fee be payable now - if we signed up for a deal or payable in july when our mortgage ends?)

Thanks in advance :)

The fee is normally added to your mortgage, when the new deal starts, and as it forms part of your normal mortgage you can pay it off at anytime. Whilst they are currently offering those deals you want be able to select the deals until after 1st May, as you can only pre-book your deal 3 months in advance (according to the Halifax when I spoke to them yesterday), though another source did say you can do it now but you would lose your current deal from 1st July (no penalties will be payable).

Halifax said the deal would last 6 months so would be available on 28 July... I thought interest was charged on ur arrangement fee if u added it to your mortgage?? I have the money I will pay upfront.

You're correct in thinking that you pay interest on the arrangement fee if you add it to your mortgage. I would also pay the fees up front.

Abbey, Barclays (Woolwich), C&G and a few others are offering some very good direct only deals. If you add the fee it will be like part of the loan.
