Things have been pretty rubbish recently. Had very little temping for ages
so no money coming in. Been going to a couple of interviews but getting no where.
Discovered on Sunday that our bedroom is soooo damp that when we moved the mattress is was like somone has poured compost/ink/composty water all over the bed. We knew we had a problem before and had a damp survey done in January and landlord had been out to visit but we thought we had got on top of it all for a while and the landlord/letting agency were going to sort something out. Basically the bed is now completely ruined. We cleaned it as best we could but it hsa impregnated the pine bed and the mattress. We have had the dehunidifier which had to buy on in there and are getting about 3 litres a day of water and it is a small double room. Anyway the upshot is we need to move urgently. We have been looking but there is nothing so far and we have to give 2 months notice on this flat. We have put in an official notice of complaint asked for compensation for all our belongings damaged by mould - it's a long list sadly and asked to be released from our contract.
On top of all of this I have had a bad back for nearly a year which a succession of chiropractor/osteopath/physio/doctor etc have been unable to sort out. I have recently started doing some pilates exercises which is really starting to help, make sure I don't sit for too long and sit less twisted on the chair. I had a scan at the begining of April and phoned today and they said I had to wait until the end of May for the results - for goodness sake. Anyway at least it is more time for me to do my exercises and hopefully this will prove I don't need an operation( which has been mooted).
Yesterday was my birthday (yay) and I have enough money to buy myself a camera and a digital tv recorder thing as well (I am very lucky). I am determined this is going to be spent and not spent on bills etc like my Christmas money was
. I also am looking at having to find £1500 or more to fund the new deposit/rent in advance/referncing fees etc for when we find a new house which is a pain and is taking a lot of my savings
. My partner is great and although he earns a fair bit (well a lot more than me as I don't have a job he does shopping/washing/cooking/washing up etc and does so much round the house and has been paying his debts off and hasn't yet saved an emergency fund - although he is definitely going the right way!
I also got offered a job yesterday which is amazing. I am very excited although I don't know quite how I am going to start a new job and move. I will be working in a fund management place near to where I live which will save loads on transport as I thought I would end up commuting - even when we move it shouldn't be too bad.
Oh and the letting agents/damp company and council (listed building) are all coming to inspect our damp next week at last!
Maybe things are finally on the up? Daring to hope things are going our way for once.
