strong lightweight suitcase

im off to thailand for a month in 3 weeks time and am after a large strong but lightweight suitcase, what should i be looking for? i assume the hard plastic ones are stronger but do they weight a lot more than canvas ones?

This is hard. I've bought light suitcases before but they never make it through baggage handling without being wrecked - to be honest the damage to my last one makes me not even certain that a 'hardcase' would survive :rolleyes:
What about a large canvas type bag with wheels at one end, or a backpack (freecycle?) - certainly easier around Thailand if you're moving about a lot!0 -
I agree with Skint Catt - the hard shelled cases don't last long with the airlines. I've had 2 smashed in the last 12 months and have now bought a soft-sided one, which looked as good after my holiday last month as it did when I set off (which is a first for me).I let my mind wander and it never came back!0
