Is this true??

I have been told that if a creditor reveals information about a debt you have with them to a third party without your permission, this makes the debt null and void.

Is this true?

Would this apply to creditors passing debts on to dcas?

I would doubt it - sure it says in the t&cs that they can do it.

Creditors should write to you and tell you it is being passed on but they are perfectly entitled to do so.

    No.

You have certain protections on how your personal data is processed under the Data Protection Act, but it does not extend to making debts "null & void" or preventing debts being sold on or DCAs acting on behalf of a creditor.
