Hi, sorry I can't help in answer to your posting but any advice by anyone would be of help to me too as I have been off work for 19 months and are hoping for a return to work within the NHS. The thing is my manager has already given up on me and I am having a meeting later this month to have her tell me so. Chances of redeployment - minimal - early retirement? - Occupational health have said that this isn't even an option - so I go to the next capability meeting with what? My union have been so helpful - not

Your manager has a duty to make sure your every option is explained to you and should be working their way through certain procedures with you . O/H should also be working with you to get you back to work or redeployed , have they given you reasons why ill-health retirement would not be an option?

If your local union rep is no use then go over his head and ask for someone more senior to oversee your case... do not be fobbed off by any of these people they have a duty of care to ensure that your rights are upheld... if necessary go straight to HR , in fact ask to see them and tell them you are not happy with the way things are being handled...I am sure there is a handbook for procedures within the NHS your union should be able to supply one...
