Shipping from USA to UK/Germany

Hi folks.
Would really appreciate some help here!
Looking for the cheapest firm/company to ship over approximately 7pounds (weight, not price!) or merchandise from the USA to Germany. Perhaps a mail forwarding service?
The website I am buying the stuff on has quoted me $60 (:eek:) for shipping to Germany, but I am hoping I can find something for about half this price - I think that is realistic, perhaps(?!).
Anyway, this all sounds a bit strange I know, but at the moment this website is offering free delivery within the USA, which is why I am thinking perhaps it'd be cheaper having it sent via somebody else.
Or even, does anybody know a rough price to send something of this weight to Germany?

Ok.
Just checked the US Postal Service website and a large package of up to about 15 pounds in weight would cost $35.
I forgot to mention also that I have a friend living in New York which is why I would use the free postage to go to her and have her take it to wherever and send it to me!
Can anybody beat $35??0
