Why would Self Cert be your only chance steve0115? If you are self-employed and can prove your income via the tax you pay, then you can still go Full Status. Self Cert is only for people who are unable to prove their income, I hope you are declaring every little brick you lay, like a good boy! ;)

at the staedy rate they always have done, so negative or low equity is only a short downward slope on a graph that only will ever go up (subject to global catastrophe).
Sadly that's the type of thinking that's got us where we are today. Obviously house prices go up and down, when you enter the cycle has more impact than other things.
Self cert is good for contract/Agency workers too.
Sorry to hear about your position, treaddie, but really , getting another mortgage, along with large cc debts knowing you are going to be made redundant is irresponsible. No mortgage company would countenance giving you a deal with redundancy looming. Owning a house is an expensive ideal and not suitable for everyone. Dont get sucked into the "wannabee" culture. CAB would seem to be your best bet, if you can get in.
