Why is it everytime I see someone on shows such as this and they say how they are strugling to pay of their debts (Like todays show) and then we are shown around their house and we see a plasma screen, lastest x-box heaps of games and more then likely a playstation 3 as well!!!
Do people out there not realise: DONT over spend! If you can't afford petrol/heating/food etc, you can't afford a plasma screen.
Forget all the fancy stuff they teach you on this show (Although the advice is really good) start with the basics DONT overspend on things you dont need. You DONT need a plasma screen, buy a cheaper tv from tesco.
ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE PEOPLE
Any opinions??

Well considering I'm presuming that you've just watched our little bit on IPTW...
The xbox we've had ages... and was paid for my trading in older games, an old ps2, dvds etc... we didn't physically pay a penny for it.
The TV was a treat for paying off so much debt. We felt that after a year of ruthless budgetting and no treats we took the plunge and treated ourselves. We got it on 0% finance so won't be paying a penny over the value... and we COULD afford it when we bought it. As we'd paid off over 7k worth of debt.
Anything else you'd like to say while I'm here?Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

the TV could have been bought before the debt was accrued or have been a present.
Please dont judge people, especially someone who has done as well as IABaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
OK guys - lets not let this one get nasty
Truth is many people get in debt by overspending. It happens we're a nation very poorly educated over finance and people get it wrong. Ask the govt why we dont do financial education in schools.
Those in debt do sometimes do it from overspending. Yet what we saw tongiht is someone who needs applause. Yes of course, as I'm sure sarah would admit they got it wrong. THen they sacrificed and worked to turn it round and now she wants to help others.
Im in huge admiration of what shes doing. And think we should be celebrating it

don't judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes.......
how do you know where it came from? i save for things alongside my debt repayments for "treats and luxuries" ia and family have worked their bits off to pay off their debt. unless you have walked that mile it is best not to make comments such as the above, no matter how well intentioned or otherwise.debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -
oh and BTW... it's an LCD, not a plasma.. :rotfl::rotfl:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Go and spend a few [STRIKE]hours[/STRIKE] days
reading IA's diaries....then come back and tell us how irresponsible and stupid she has been.....

I have thought about this and just realised if I had watched the programme tonight not having already read all of IA's diaries, I would have made the same comment as mat111 (prob not on a public forum though, chicken that I am). Which goes to show I'm a lot more judgemental than I thought I was
I need to remember that everything's not black and white and just because I've watched a few minutes of TV doesn't mean I know the full story.
IA has turned her life around and getting into debt has probably been the making of her - please don't take this the wrong way IA, I hope you know what I mean
I just mean well done :T
The TV probably was an extravagance that you could have managed without but you've worked so hard and made so many cutbacks, I don't think anyone would begrudge the splurge and you did do it the sensible way, on interest free credit
