Calling all Salesman

At work today, they were talking about the sales structure and the points of a sale.

They were mentioning the 5 or 7 points of a sale.

Can anyone tell me what are the 5 or 7 points of a sale, so I at least look like I know what i'm doing tomorrow.

Thanks

Mark

lol, he's probably in the right job, though it sounds like the IIP lot have swooped in. I asked mr tru what the structure and 7 points of a sale were, there's no point in telling you exactly what he said because the swear filter will block it all out :D

Every company has their own way of doing it but the basics are the same whether you are selling million pound houses, boats, cars, or charity direct debits.

Some have 3 points other 7 and others 12.
In my experience the thicker the staff the lower the number of points to allow them to remember. This statement isnt meant to offend anyone but just what I have noticed.

    Basic points are -
Meet and Greet - Saying hello to customer (easy)
Introduction - My name is xxxx and you are???
Ice breaker - Oh right so have you come far today
Qualification - And what kind of car/house etc are you looking for
Better qualification - And are you looking to buy this week or in the next few months.

Theres loads more steps such as test closure - so is this the car/house for you, and commitment - so if I could do this for this price would you buy today etc

If they mentioned a seven point process without actually telling you what it was I would walk out as they are probably a crap company with a huge turnover of staff. I wouldnt have someone working for me who didnt know our sales process back to front as they would be a liabillity.

One thing I would say is that people do operate like computers so if you know the right buttons to press you can get them to act in the way you want. This works with anything from getting them to BUY or to getting them to sleep with you.

However while easy to say - its very hard to master and takes patience and lots of practice. The sales process when used right is brilliant and watching a very good salesman at work is fascinating.
