I want a new hard drive for my laptop!

Hey all.

Wanted to upgrade my laptop hard drive, so bought this off eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180230303965&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=008
However, as it turns out, it was the wrong one :-(. What a waste of money.

Can anyone advise me which HDD I need? My laptop is the following model:

And I wanted a 160gb+ hard drive.

Looked on eBay again, but will be willing to buy from anywhere - I just want cheap and compatible!

Is this what I'm after...

  • Hi there,

    Your Acer Ferrari needs a PATA hard disk, so you the one you bought orginally won't work. However, the one you link to should be fine.

    Another hard disk that would work is;

    Bare in mind however, that unless you have the original setup disks for the laptop, you will loose all your files, documents and applications when swapping hard disks.

    Also worth noting, is that if you're just upgrading your laptop with a larger drive, you can still use the original drive either as a backup or for additional storage. So for example, you could use it in

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?NOV-EXT25

    and not lose any of the files on there until your new hard disk is ready for them, and then use it as a backup device.

    Good luck.
    Mike
