Good moving companies or anyone had anything shipped?

Hi,
Can anyone suggest a good moving company or offer some advice?
When my grandparents passed away I was left some furniture. Thing is the furniture is being shipped from France to Belfast (where according to my mother the French movers have to leave it at the docks). So basically I'm looking for any advice at all on collecting furniture (a few wardrobes, a bed that sort of thing, mostly in pieces) from the docks and having it transported to a location in Belfast.
Any decent moving companies who won't charge me a fortune but who won't destroy my stuff?

If you want to do it as cheap as possible... hire a van. A transit will transport almost anything, and even if you have to do a few runs it will work out a lot less than getting a removal company. Last time I hired one it was £60 for the day for the long wheel base high roof transit. A removal company want to charge me £150.

If you do decide to hire a van get some old blankets and use them to put around the wardrobes before securing them with some rope, to prevent an y damage.

Thanks for the suggestion!
Unfortunately because the furniture is antique and my husband has only been driving for under a year we're not really keen to hire a van (otherwise that would be the cheaper option). So we're really looking for an option that includes a van and a man or two to help out.
Any thoughts or suggestions of companies? Or has anyone out there ever picked up anything from the docks?

Ok, I can recommend a company called delivery services based in belfast. They do have a lot of experience of moving antiques, pianos, etc. They also provide international shipping services and are full insured for this type of work (very important) so they may be what you are looking for. You can phone them on 90 315080.

In case you are wondering I am not connected to this company in any way. A member of my family is involved in the removal business for the past 30 years and he has worked with this company on many occasions. He would recommend them for providing a good quality service. Unfortunatley I could not estimate how much this would cost as there are a lot of variables, but the company will be able to provide you with an estimate for the move.

I second Delivery Services - used them loads of times, they are very careful and experienced with handling delicate and expensive items ( don't know if it's still the case but they used to get all the Arts Council work ) and reasonably priced. No connection either, just a happy customer.
