NCO won't leave me alone-HELP!

Hi
This debt collection agency have been on my case since 2006 for a debt I know nothing about. After several phone calls and letters I came onto this forum in 2007 and found out about the CCA template letters. I sent both of these within the time limits and they didn't provide any information so as at July 2007 the debt was unenforcable by law. Since then they have been constantly ringing me, some weeks every day, and I got so fed up of explaining this was not my debt etc.that I now just hang up on them. Today however when they rang I thought I have had enough and actually tried to speak to the operator. They were very rude (again) and insist that I have made a payment to them of £1 but this was the fee required for the copy of any CCA agreement!! They will not listen to me and say that as I have paid this £1 then I have agreed the debt is mine and must pay up eventhough it is over 6 years old. I have no paperwork or agreements with Citifinancial and all NCO can provide is an amount owed!! I have also been in contact with Trading Standards who wrote to NCO but still they harrass me.
What can I do to get this horrendous agency off my back?

i think there is a letter you can send not acknowledging (sp) the debt but stating the £1 was for the CCA

i'm sure someone who knows more will be along soon

    good luck!

Hi Cheatagh - Since you sent your original cca request to NCO last July, they are, now, comitting a criminal offence.
You can also report their actions to the Information Commissioner and to the Police for harrassment.

  • Thank You to everyone who offered advice regarding NCO and its harrassment. I looked on the CSA website with a view to complain but their guidance notes said to contact the head of NCO first. I wrote a polite letter of complaint to them enclosing copies of all my previous correspondence and a call log of their incoming calls and two days after I received an apologetic letter from them saying the matter was now closed and they would not contact me again!!

What a result eventhough it has taken nearly two years to get them off my back. My advice is to ignore the operators who call and the letters sent out from various 'other' people who never reply to your responses and go straight to the top man or woman.

    Good Luck.:T

NCO were the only creditors I had problems with....they were so rude and the guy who i spoke to never heard of payplan!!! said he didnt need to know who they were it was my fault i ran up debts and nobody elses and why should he deal with someone else!!!..........anyway ignored there calls carried on paying my onthly payment and they left me alone.....I think i have a least 100 letters from them all saying the same thing. I just ignore them all and carry on paying through payplan.

Nightmare hey! glad you got yours sorted
