Why does your dad no longer want the car?
How much is owed on the finance?
Have you read the agreement to see if you can hand it back & what the charges would be for that?
  • his partner made him but another, theirs under 5 grand left, i dont think the finance company will have it back
  • Hi there, We almost had the same situation here and I posted the same thread on here about 12 months ago. A very helpful man wrote telling me to check my finance agreement as there is something on there ( and its on all car agreements) which says that if you have paid half of the amount owing, you can just hand the car back in at any time. So we went away and checked our agreement and there it was, in the small print..... bloody marvelous!! Just one phone call and the car was handed back with no more debt owing on it! just for once the small print worked in our favour. Check you agreement carefully and read the small print , I am sure you will find it on there. Julia
  • we went through the same thing. We called the finance company and asked them to take it away. The finance company sold the car at auction and sent us the remainder to be paid. The only trouble is they auction the car off at much less than the actual value (for quick sale). But you can come to a repayment arrangement with them at least it's less than paying for the whole car.

    Good luck!
