Naughty C&G!

Just been to Lloyds TSB regarding our C&G mortgage, we are looking to buy again shortly(well depends if our recent offer accepted!)and have just banked money from a previous sale. We spoke to our advisor who said that 2 weeks ago(funny thing!!)they withdrew their offset mortgage as it wasn't popular????? :naughty:
Sorry but this smacks of greed I'm afraid. Is this because they don't make enough interest on these mortgages?????!!!!. not enough money going in their pockets?
We had an offset on our last house and paid off £10,000 in 2 years and are looking to do the same.I'm sorry but I just don't believe that they aren't popular?

We have amazingly negogiated a new offset ;) once we mentioned that we were considering going elsewhere. but they still have the cheek to ask us for £1000 fees!! working on that one now too.

All this mortgage marlarky is making me:mad: I think i just might go and buy a house on Cape verde for £80,000 and become a beach bum.
I like to take one day at a time....but quite often several days attack me at once...

You are completely and utterly wrong I fear.

Offset mortgages typically pay the highest commisions to brokers, usualy about double thwe commission of non offset prime mortgage.

IF offsett products pay a whopping 0.57% as opposed to thier non offsetts paying under 04% and the one account was also at the highest end of the scale paying 0.6% compared to about 0.3% for non offsets.

They pay such high commisions because they want brokers to sell these products as they are so profitable. Its no surprise the 2 big names in offsetting and those that spearheaded thier rise are both backed by Scottish Banks - they dont come any more profit focused than those guys.

Why is asking for a £1000 fee cheeky? A company withdrawning a product isnt greed or cheek.

So many people want money for nothing these days. The sooner peeople wake up and realise the days of cheap money are over the better.
