It's always worth joining the union. Okay, so it's extra out of your monthly pay packet. But trust me there may well come a time when you'll consider those subs worth eveyr penny. Not sure how they are, but it can't be more than a couple of pints and bag of pork scratchings per month?

I think it's worth joining a Union. Am an office worker, and have used them for advice (not for any confrontation) and they have helped me manage my situation better. My union is Unite. Yes, it is quite expensive, but you can phone the rep for ways of dealing with issues and they understand the Company and have plenty of experience with things.

I also have taken advantage of free will service, and they have cheap conveyancing fees plus free accident death benefit. Wish they had cheap holiday accommodation!

Everyone has problems of whatever sort in the workplace, and it's nice to know that you have someone to go to who isn't in HR or a boss - someone really on your side.

    Good luck

I am thinking of coming out of the union, i really can`t see that they offer much these days, people are protected by employment law now. I have been to meetings were staff are represented by a union rep and they just advise the person to `sort it out informally`.

Being old school i feel obliged to stay in the union but being money saving I would like to come out. Help!
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
