How long to sort out a remortgage?

Hi all. I'm sure it's been asked tons before but how long should I give it to sort out a remortgage?

I've currently got a tracker with the Nationwide at 0.27% above BoE base rate, which expires on 31 July 2008. I'm very interested in a HSBC special lifetime tracker (no tie ins, no overpayment cap etc etc) but am wondering how long I need to sort things out.

All advice, even to do with the mortgage product much appreciated!

I would start to do something now. Not because of the time it takes, but in order to get a half decent rate before more deals get pulled.

Thanks for the advice - popped into the HSBC yesterday and managed to get some info straight away. Have an appointment for 2 weeks time and will be signing up then - subject to the deal still being available. We've worked out we will recoup the fees in 10 months as the SVR at the Nationwide is so high. Thanks again!
