Carpet Right 20% off voucher in the Sun.

There is a 20% off voucher in the Sun today. Only lasts for today and tomorrow. There is already 50% off 100's of carpets and with the voucher you're getting another 20%. It can be used to buy laminates, carpets, vinyl and rugs. Hope this is of use to someone.

  • Thanks for that. I managed to get the paper. As you said, it's valid for today and tomorrow. Carpetright closed early today but I'll try it tomorrow since I already have a quote from them. The 20% is off the main price (ie. doesn't cover underlay, door bars, gripper, fitting etc) so will effectively work out much less if you are ordering those items as well (it may be around 10% of order effectively for us) but it's still well worthwhile.
  • Is Carpetright a good place to buy carpets? I want to recarpet my flat and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or tips. :)
The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.
  • Well, on the plus side they're fairly cheap. I have bought from them and always compare prices with others (Allied, Carpet Castle etc). This time round I tried a trade carpet place who turned out to be more expensive than Carpetright.

    The downsides are:

    1) you pay (except fitting) at time of order. I thought that was normal but others on MSE seem to object to this.
    2) you pay the fitter in cash when the fitting is complete (or if it is split over 2 days, you pay part each day).
    3) If your chosen carpet is not in stock (ie. ones frmo their books rather than off the rolls), you could have a long wait.

They've been ok for me every time I've used them. My parents however had a bad experience with them. They had agreed for fitting to be carried out over two days, even though this increased the fitting charge, because they were doing most of the house and needed to move furniture between rooms. However, this was not spelt out on the invoice and Carpetright denied all knowledge of it and said it was absolutely impossible that any Carpetright employee would ever have agreed to such a thing. They even denied that the salesperson who had taken the order was a manager - which he had said he was and which he had on his badge. My parents were told it had to be done in one day otherwise they would have to pay double the installation charge (and remember they had already chosen the more expensive two day option). So all the furniture had to be moved into the kitchen and the garden. They were given the first appointment of the day (around 8am I think). The fitters finally turned up after loads of telephone calls to Carpetright to complain (until they closed for the day that is) at 9:30pm (yes PM) and said they would only do part of it that day and another team of fitters would do the rest the following week. They also wouldn't start unless it was agreed that they would be paid half the install fee when they had done their work for the evening. As you can imagine, my parents were not too pleased but with all their furniture blocking their kitchen and sitting on the lawn outside, they didn't have much choice.

So the important lesson there is make sure any important details are well spelt out on the order form (even if they tell you they don't need to be because it's standard practice etc). I know it sounds really obvious, but it not always is when you are placing your order.

Have also carpetted several house using Carpetright cos you can usually find a good deal.

However, beware of their underlay prices!!! Their £7.99 underlay is available off the net for £4.50 per sq metre. Try http://www.tradepriced.co.uk/carpet_underlay.html they even have next day delivery. Beware though as if you use their fitters they will say that they can fit anyone elses underlay. However make this issue a dealbreaker for you and they store will usually sort out the fitting of the underlay with the fitters.

had agreat deal from them to recarpet the whole house. Use our own fitter who is very good, very reasonable rates and is flexible to when we want each room fitting.
