Hi just looking for a bit of advice for my mum, she has debts which she has tried to sort out, by going to a company called Hanover Sterling, has anyone heard of them and if they have, did they they any problems. My mother has been paying them each month and has just discovered that they have not been paying anybody and when they have it has been for the wrong amount.
She now has to pay a solicitor payments and also has debt collectors. Has anybody else experienced problems with these people, she went to payplan first who put her in contact with this company [ as i understand it]:confused:

  • May I be the first to say it;

    ONLY USE CCCS OR PAYPLAN FOR DEBT MANAGEMENT!!!

    As many others will agree, they are the only to organisations that do not charge for their services!! What's more, CCCS are a charity. Have a look on the National Debtline website for good advice, Martin also talks about the good places to go towards the bottom of this article;

    I'd be very surprised if Payplan had recommended these people, unless there were circumstances where Payplan couldn't help, but it's doubtful.
    First things first, I'd get your mum to hot foot it down to Citizen's Advice for some reassurance. In the meantime your mum should offer token payments to her creditors (can be as little as £1).
    Tell her not to worry, her creditors can bully and hassle as much as they like, but she can only give them what she can afford.

    I know I sounded a bit harsh there, but these fee-charging debt-managing companies really wind us up on here! I did a quick search on Google for them, and they seem to be a Broker. I really would drop them like a hot potato.

    Best wishes to your mum,
