Littlewoods Finance & nationwide Debt Collections?

Hi -
Im in touch with the CCCS and currently paying token £1 payments to our creditors (£25k debt). Littlewoods wont accept our £1 offer but Im paying it anyway, (as advised by cccs) as literally dont have any spare £'s. Littlewoods wont discuss the debt with me or make any arrangement as they will only speak to cccs but obviouslt cccs won't speak to them as Im not yet on a dmp (we are working hard to increase income so we can get onto dmp).

Anyway - after a few rude calls (from them) theyve told me today theyre passing the debt to a collection service called Nationwide Debt Recovery. I can't pay them anymore than littlewoods but we are at the beginning of our debt-free journey and this will be our first Debt Recovery company - what will they do? Cccs did say they have no more power than Littlewoods but would love to hear if anyone has experience of them.

thanks x

    Hiya

I would not be surprised to find that NDR are part or related to Littlewoods; do a search for them on here.

As soon as NDR get in touch, send them a letter advising them of your situation and telling them to deal with CCCS only, as per the OFT Guidelines.

Generally people find that DCAs are better at accepting DMPs than some original creditors, so take it easy.

NDR are Littlewoods internal collection department.

So not only do they have no more power than Littlewoods, they are Littlewoods.

This factsheet from National Debtline might be useful if they are very awkward.

They do make me laugh these companies, it's not for them to dictate what you can / cannot pay, you can only pay what you can afford.

As for refusing to speake to "You" about "Your" debt, I've not heard of that before, most creditors refuse to deal with 3rd parties.

Also, phone littlewoods back, and ask them to remove your contact details from your a/c, and only to deal with you in writing, and writing only.

Ahh! Thank you - I can't pay anymore, I wish I could but its handy to know who youre talking to.
Most of my creditors have been ok about token payments but a few havent on the basis (they say) that cccs won't contact them on my behalf because Im basically self-referred, not on their dmp books, cahoot wouldnt and neither would Littlewoods.
Littlewoods are the only ones who have been rude and condescending which Im not putting up with anymore. They refused to communicate with me any way other than phone (!?!) - hoping i'll cave and find imaginary money Im guessing, but will take names of anyone else who rings from now on.

    Thanks all x

They should not be asking you for more than you can afford and if they are awkward, refer them to the the Office of Fair Trading Debt Collection Guidelines.

Full details of these guidelines can be viewed, and downloaded, here:

    http://www.oft.gov.uk/shared_oft/bus...dit/oft664.pdf

They are supposed to use your chosen method of commumication - in writing. If they do not, complain to Trading Standards and the Consumer Credit Association.

Write and tell them to stop. if they ring after that, ask their name, tell them you are recording the call and logging it for the purposes of backing a complaint. Bet they ring off.
