I would recommend either cheque usually or only ever standing order.

I would never pay by debit card - once the DCA took £50 rather than £5 and it took ages to get it back. I would never pay by direct debit as again there is no control.

I would only ever pay by standing order - I can amend them online as I see fit etc and I am in total control of my payments.

Simply call the DCA concerned and ask for their banking details and confirm your reference number.

I would NEVER EVER give my card details over to somebody I owed money to in this kind of situation as I have heard many cases when the following month more money was take from the card via a continues payment (like a dd).
I took a risk and selotaped £1 coins to the letters I sent.
Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!

    Hi there,

If you have a bank account, I would always suggest paying via a standing order. The benefits of paying via a SO are that you can guarantee the money will reach the creditor (as long as you have the money in your account), you also have a paper trail with bank statements to prove you've been making payments. Finally, it doesn't cost anything on top of the actual payment, and you don't have to physically do anything on an ongoing basis once it's setup.
