Payplan???

Hi guys
I'm back on here again today. For those of you who kindly read my last post, this is just a quick update.
Basically we contacted CCCS who advised us to offer our creditors £357 per month in reduced payments (for £86k unsecured debt caused by a very traumatic 18 months). Although they were lovely, they weren't willing to place us on a DMP as it would take us initially 20 years to pay off this debt, and they said they don't do DMP's that long.
A couple of people on here recommended Payplan - I called them, got an appt the very same day, and they are more than willing to place us on a DMP, to be reviewed every three months. They also think that the budget CCCS set us is too tight and think that £275 per month would be a more sensible offer to our creditors. They are concerned that we don't get in the situation where we can't pay our mortgage, and that we should put the needs of our two year old son first - of course.
They were also fantastic but I'm still in a lather as to what to do. I've just about paid all the creditors their share of the £357 for April, and Payplan DMP of £275 is due to start in May.
I'd basically love to hear of anyone's experiences of Payplan, good or bad, as to be honest I hadn't heard of them before coming on here (although I've since seem their number on the back on my barclaycard statement).
It's difficult when you're in this situation as you don't know who to trust.
Thanks again

The CCCS, CAB and Payplan all do pretty much the same thing but you have to be happy with whoever is dealing with your DMP so there's nothing wrong with looking at your options. Someone will be along soon to give you some advice about payplan.

Becky, we have been on a DMP with Payplan for three months and they are excellent. Our case-worker keeps us up-dated and always responds to any emails/phone calls as quickly as possible. They have also worked hard on our behalf and most of our creditors have accepted our monthly payments

Hi
I use payplan, very understanding, after a couple of months on my dmp I was still getting letters from creditors & I just forwarded them on, now I barely ever hear from them, just pay my mthly payment and thats it!
Alos found them v understanding when a few months ago my income went down again and they renegotiated smaller payments for me.
You can trust them don't worry xxCompulsive Spendaholic #150 -
Been with Payplan for over a year now. Cannot fault them.

Personally - I wouldn't be here today without PayPlan
Initially my debts would have taken me until 2012 to pay off at the rate I was paying then but my situation changed and I could keep managing to up my payments got a second job and threw all of this at PayPlan too.
Then with the claiming back charges etc and negotiating pay offs with some creditors I am now debt free and have been for coming up for a year and in fact now over £4k in my savings....
It's tough going but they really were the support i needed, the fact that I didn't need to read the snotty letters from my creditors I could just send them to PayPlan took a massive weight of my shoulders that I just couldn't cope with on my own
I can't sing their praises enough I'm afraid.Lightbulb Moment - March 2004

Thanks everybody - it seems my instincts were right. They did seem brilliant, totally accepting of the fact that our circumstances are going to change dramatically in about six months time (son's free nursery education starts) so we'll have about an extra £300 per month to offer our creditors.
They also mentioned that ultimately an IVA might be the best option for us due to the high level of debt, but only if we could genuinely afford the to offer the creditors a decent dividend level proposal, which in six months we can.
I'm not dissing the CCCS in any way, but like you say Immoral Angel, it's all about finding the right organisation for you, and I think payplan are the way to go for us.
Thanks again0 -
hi there becky77 my husband and i have been with payplan for about 18 months and we have found them very helpful and understanding they have worked out our budget for us and sent out our financial statements to all our creditors we have 50k in debt to several companies we have 2 children also payplan will go thru all your income and outgoings and in this they follow government guidelines for food shopping, hairdressing etc things you don't always think about they also phone you to do this so it doesn't cost you on your phone there is no charge for their services either. what they can't protect you from however is the fact that creditors do sell your debts on and this has happened to us we are now faced with a company called marlin who refuse to acknollege payplan and are threatening to take us to court for a ccj to get a charging order on our property.payplan are supporting us by continuosly sending marlin our financial statements and are going to help us fill in the court forms when they arrive. if you read thru the posts you will find many are with payplan even tho we have come across the awful marlin people payplan is not a choice I regret and we ill be staying with them.good luck.0
