Where to apply to for re-mortgage in current climate

Hi I'm new to this thread but have posted elsewhere (oldstyler). We need to re-mortage our house (for various reasons, part business/part to improve) have tried our exisiting lender (Allied Irish) to no avail. We have equity in the property and good record of payment. Anyone have any ideas as to which bank/agency is the best bet in the current financial climate?? Lil

HSBC seems to be wanting new remortgages. We are currently remortgaging and have almost decided on the One Account but are going to check out HSBC before sending off the application.
