Re-mortgage probs!

Hi all, my names Simon I'm new here. I thought I'd let you know about my re-mortgage issues. I signed a fixed rate mortgage deal in early January with Abby. I thought Yay! I got a good deal, we got a completion date of 13th March so we sat back and waited for the completion paperwork to come through. Week commencing 10th March, we still haven't heard anything so I called the solicitors (Breeze+) and they hadn't even requested the mortgage statement from my current company (Northern Rock). In the mean time my current company had cancelled my direct debit due to the fact I was moving 13 days into the month. It gets to the 28th March before they even get the statement through but this is where it starts getting very confusing for the solicitors as I called NR and made a payment because I didn't wan mortgage arrears. Fast forward to last week. We get a completion statement from the solicitors including the mortgage payment we had already paid to northern rock. Fast forward to last week, I spent all week calling between NR and Breeze to sort out a corrected statement, NR say it will be for X amount of days from 1st April at the daily rate (roughly £26 per day). Breeze plus phone me today saying they have got the statement through on Saturday and there is a short fall on my previous lenders side of £463.48. I blew my top! I questioned their skills as professionals and ranted for quite a while and the the girl on the other end of the phone said in a very timid voice "I think we've made a mistake, the short fall should only be about £200ish" Sorry for the long rant! What I want to know, as Abby gave me a completion date of 13th March and I still haven't completed, will i be able to charge back the difference in the interest rates from 13th March to completion? (FYI NR mortgage £860pcm Abby £707 pcm)
Thanks Simon

In the middle of the post you said that your solicitor hadn't requested a mortgage statement, so was it them that held the process up, or your mortage company? Who do you want to claim the interest back from?0

I'm not bothered who I claim it back from, I just don't want to pay more than I should. I've just got back onto the mortgage advisor at Abby who sorted my mortgage and I got a bit shirty with her because it seems, as soon as the paperwork was signed back in Jan, she hasn't done anything. I even called her a couple of weeks back and she said "At this point in time theres nothing Ican do, it's best if you call the solicitors yourself" Do you think this is what I paid my £595 set-up fee for?

New update, Breeze+ just called me and said my shortfall is £463.48. I asked them for a quick breakdown over the phone. It was as follows:
1) Mortgage owed to Northern Rock £xxx
2) £100 Lease notification fee (or something along those lines)
3) £35.25 transfer of funds fee
I commented about part 2, my house is free-hold! The girl on the phone paused for a long time followed by a lot of errrrr's and ummmmm's!
I think I got the dud solicitors here!

Whilst I don't think Breeze have acted very swiftly in your case, did you not think to phone them when your paperwork didn't arrive?
I'm remortgaging at the minute and do email to check they've got things and that they're still on track to complete. Maybe I'm hassling them too much!0 -
I do not think you will be able to claim back interest. The Abbey had a date to work to but there is nothing contractual that places any burden on the Solicitors to ensure the date is met. Happens all the time.0
