Turned Down for ISA!!!

I was discharged from bankruptcy 18 months ago and am now self-employed. I have a Cashminder account with the Co-op.
Business has been going well and I want to start saving a few hundred a month, so I applied to the Co-op Bank to open a cash ISA.
They've sent me an email back saying that because of an adverse credit report my application has been declined!
Can anyone explain to me why a bank should turn me down for a savings plan?!!!

hi walter i think i read on here that savings accounts are credit checked, did you start cleaning up your files when you got discharged? if not it might be worth starting that,

well, if the goverment backed isa doesnt want your money, keep it under the bed, you wont get interest but when you retire you will have no visible assets and qualify for every state pension, pension tax and benefot going....
or buy something that will appreciate more than an isa....

I have an ISA with the post office that I opened while an undischarged bankrupt. I would ask them why and if no joy, try a different provider.BCSC Member 70:j
