Girls of that age also seem to be into Dora or Fifi. I'd check first though as you so don't want to get them muddled up !

My 2 1/2 neice loves make believe stuff. Toy iron, kitchen etc etc. As the summer is coming up she ADORES her little gardening set that she follows mum around with :)

Well, I'm ready to be flamed here, but 3 year old girls love Barbie or Polly Pocket in my experience. Parents get all po-faced about it, but they do. Sod the ELC puzzles and intellectual stuff , that's what they tend to like and they play with them for hours at a time for years. And they don't end up brain dead, just happy absorbed little girls.

OK, so I only have boys, but at that age, the most popular toys with them and their cousins (boys and girls) are/were the kitchen/food/shopping toys (what about some of the velcro food that you can slice up etc?), and house-y things like vacuums.

Bags are also popular - they don't have to be anything special either. My two years old's favourite bag is a Sainsburys jute bag - one of the small size ones - because it looks just like mum's (they do the little ones in Asda too, don't think Tesco do though).

You could always get one of these bags (usually £1) and fill it with a selection of play food. Add one of the tills mentioned earlier, and you have a ready-made playset.

    :)
