Odd gloves - aaargh!!

Options
why does my 5 year old son insist on losing a glove every time he goes to school with a pair?

I now have 10, yes 10 odd gloves in a neat pile looking at me, and the OS part of me won't just compost/textile bank them...so....

1. how do i stop him losing them? the strings through the arms simply meant other kids pulled on them....

2. what shall I do with the 10 odd gloves??? OS heaven, surely?? I need ideas!!!;)

  • hey my son is the same, hats, scarfs and jackets he loses them all. have you tryed going to the school and looking through the lost property box? we have one at our school and you would be amazed at the stuff there.

i now no longer give him gloves to take to school.

what about making puppets with the 10 you have ?
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming ~ WOO HOO what a ride!

Buy gloves ALWAYS in the same colour every time - (socks too!) And finger puppets with the mis-matched ones is an excellent idea :T

You could try putting each individual glove on ebay - I lost one of my thinsulate gloves a few weeks ago - I was able to get a new pair on ebay cheaply enough, but would have loved it if there had just been one for me to buy!

What about sewing a name tag into the glove with your phone number in it? Worth a try!

My 2 DS are the very same - I tend to buy their gloves from Primark or Poundshop so usually only about 50 p pair, but still drives me mad. I usuallu end up buying plain if I can but not always possible.

I now have about 8 pairs made up of odd gloves. I keep them for snowy days ( once every few years I know!!) and if any of their friends have no gloves give them out then - usually get some back, but they are there just in case.
No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

Can't you dye them all the same colour? Or are they all the same hand?

Or - swap with other OSers

Start a trend! Make sure he wears odd paired gloves always! My DD started a fashion amongst her friends a few years ago when she started deliberately wearing mismatched socks...

Plain gloves, same colour from the same place helps. I've got 2 sons who won't wear odd things and like the same things repeatedly, especially clothes, so that means we rarely have odd anythings. I do now know why my Mam had sewn mine into my coat when I was at school however. Volunteering to help sort lost property at school might help you find them.

Odd ones make great dusting mitts, glove liners for very cold weather (either just worn under the other or sewn in)
One day I might be more organised...........

Mum would only ever buy me exactly the same black gloves in wool.

These are identical. Even if you lose one you can turn the other inside out to give an immediately matching pair.

    It really works.
:o Keep trying.........................what else is there to do? :o

My DS2 does this - he says he can always get a pair with 2 socks from the drawer!

I have to say, I don't think there is anything sadder than an empty glove on the street or a wall, lost & alone :(
