removing a name from a mortgage

hi hope someone can help with this matter? a family member and her partner have split up and he has left the house and kids behind now she wants to remortgage and remove his name from all the paper work. he has agreed to this and is will to sign everything over. but we have know idea how to go about this and how much it is going to cost?

The lender will only allow this if she has enough income to justify the size of mortgage given under current lending criteria.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
