Income tax rebate

Hi,

I have not worked for about ten years. I'm below the retirement age and am not claiming any benefits having received a small inheritance. Can I possibly claim (successfully) an income tax refund or rebate.

Any help on this matter will be gratefully received.

Do you have any income that is subject to tax - bank interest etc. Not sure what it is you think you may be entitled to a refund on ?

Clapton - no I haven't

BoGof - No income is below tax level, I'm wondering whether a rebate is possible because when one is out of work and then resumes work, one usually gets a rebate, I'm wondering whether there may be a rebate available on tax that I paid up to finishing work.

If you finished work 10 years ago then the answer is no, you can only go back 6 years.

What's this inheritance in?

If it's invested and you are living on the interest, then if that interest has had tax deducted AND the annual amount is less than your personal allowance, then you can claim the tax back - and register not to pay it in the first place in future.
