Data Entry Work

Like lots of other people, I would be really, really happy to find some genuine data entry work ( or any kind of work actually!) that I could do from home. I'm sick and tired of finding adverts or being emailed about work, only to find it's not genuine, or I need to pay upfront!

Gumtree, at the moment has loads of these adverts on, for different towns, and I wondered if anyone had actually replied and got a reply?

I'm still waiting for a reply too, I wrote and asked them if this was something that could be done from home? Still waiting for a response though.

I would tend to be a little suspicious of a job which was registered on a Saturday. (This is not an outright "don't touch with a bargepole" thing because some agencies do mail out jobs on Saturdays but I just think that some people posting are trying to get their message up for longer before scams are taken down.)

That particular job in Sheffield looks to me as though, if it were genuine, it would be something you would need to be in the office to do - it's the clerical tasks which suggests that. And I must say their website hardly looks like much of a professional site - only one page, no geographic phone number, no mailing address (not even a PO box), no named contact.

    Hi Little voice

    I know what you're saying.

I see they've posted it all over Gumtree, for different areas too, so unless they're looking for people from lots of different towns to go work in their offices???

    Hi Sally

We're currently employing around 30 freelance writers who are employed to write content for our large network of travel sites. There are two main projects - one that involves re-writing existing content so that our text is unique (good for Google) and another that involves visiting places, taking photographs and writing about them.

If either of this sounds of interest, there's been a thread already on it here:

Feel free to PM me for details if you would like further info.

This may be something I would be interested in doing - I have sent you a PM requesting more information.

    Hi Altyfc

    Thanks for that.

I took a look at your websites and understood it to be, that I'd need to travel around places. I actually would like some work that I can do from home. Are you saying that the "re-writing existing content" is a part of the job that can be done from home?

    Hi Sally

We actually have three different types of vacancy running at the moment. (With each type, we hire multiple freelancers.)

The first type does indeed require people to travel and take photographs. This might be in the town/city where they live, or for some it might involve getting in a car and venturing from place to place. The photogaphic component is supplemented by written work that can be done from home.

The second type involves just re-writing content that already exists - but improving it (in some cases) and making it unique so as not to be penalised by Google for duplicate content. It's less interesting but can be done entirely from home.

The third type is very similar to the first type, but without the need for photographs, so can be done wholly from home also. However, this type is for one quite large contracts (£5k each) and so is reserved only for those who have a track record with us. ie. those that have successfully done either type 1 or type 2 for some time!

Hope this all makes sense now.
