Brown Bacon

I've just had my tesco shopping delivered and the bacon (16 rashers) is brown  , so much for their policy of picking what you would buy yourself!, I have rung to complain and had my money refunded .
I have never brought brown bacon and my instinct is to throw it away but it seems such a wate. The use by date is 9th may so should it be ok to use? If so what would you use it for also ideally something that I can cook and keep as already meal planned/shopped for the coming week and I really don't want to swap as we are then away for a few days and I am trying to keep things as easy as pos!

If this had happened to me, I would not want to throw it away either - bacon is cured so it is probably fine. I would take it out of the pack, and fry the rashers. Then I would taste them to make sure there was no funny taste. If they tasted OK, I would divide the rashers up in portions and freeze them for use in things like bacon & egg pie, quiche lorraine or bacon bits on salads."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
it will be fine.. all meat goes brown after being dead for a while.. even if it is kept in the fridge and well before it's date.

What do you think's wrong with it? If it smells OK it probably is. I'd eat it

I used to work with a single middle aged ex army guy. He would eat anything out of date. I've seen him eat green bacon. I would say bacon will be ok. Strange thing is since going on MSE, finding myself getting more like him everyday:eek: :rotfl: He's only been food poisoned twice in all the years I've known him. Was his only stupid fault, once never microwaved his frozen meal properely, still not warmed in middle so he carried on eating it:eek: . Other time he had a dodgy curry abroad.:eek:Grocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.
