Does anyone here use fruit and veg wholesale markets?

I was thinking of trying our large wholesale fruit & veg market (my local one is Glasgow) for a sack of potatoes, box of apples / bananas / veg to bulk freeze etc, but wondered if the savings would be worth it. Does anyone here shop this way? Any tips?

I do occasionally. The asian supermarkets near me sell fruit/veg in bulk. I will often get tomatoes and peppers in bulk, they are easy to prepare for freezing, (they don't last long otherwise). The other thing I buy in bulk is onions. When I use them, instead of doing one I do 4 chop it all in ffod processor and freeze the rest in portions.
It does work out a lot cheaper to bulk buy. I would like to know where I can buy flour in bulk? There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -

Hi jordylass,

Bulk buying bread flour?

thanks Jordylass, but it's more the type of market that restaurants and caterers themselves use I'm talking about - I already use the Asian supermarket
My mum used to get her fruit and potatoes there when we were growing up, by the box / bag, but she's not done this since the mid-80s, so she doesn't know if it would still be moneysaving, due to the appearance of value bags and their ilk in the supermarkets since then. Is this potentially an untapped source of moneysaving???0
