If you wanted £50 for something else then I'd go for the LG but if you don't mind spending the £300 go for the Toshiba.
I'm sure I've seen 26" LCD's for less than £300 if that interests you too.

We are looking for one this size foir the bedroom - its funny a lot of them (26'' im after) are all more expensive than the 32'' LCS's - myabe becasue more 32 inch are made?

You can get away with slightly less cotnrast ratio on the smaller screen, but still go with one tht is not too low.
