Credit Reference Agencies

Hi,
If a person changes his/her name by deed poll I assume the banks contact the credit reference agencies with the new details.
Do the credit reference agencies notify lenders of this name change automatically or are the changes filed away until details of this person are asked for? In other words, would a lender know a person had changed his name without requesting a credit report?
