credit card negotiations

Hi everyone I need some help I have nearly been talked into having an IVA but have been very unsure that this is the correct route for me and having read Martins advice I now know its not!! I have borrowed some money froma family friend interest free to clear my credit card debt but having limited money I want to know if any one has had experience in negotiating a settlement with a credit card company and how they did it I understand not to do anything until its in writing and I believe you can download forms for this but not sure where from?
