I can't be bothered to pay my mortgage. Anyone else feel similarly inclined? If so, we could move into each other's houses and squat in them, thus paying nothing. Come 6 years time, when the banks can't find us, we could swap back into our own houses, having had the debts written off, and enjoy a house each for free.

Do you know when you last made a payment towards the debt?
This is the date that the coundown starts from. Unless of course you have acknowledged the debt in writing since then.

I would write to the DCA if they start to threaten you with court action and state that the debt is statute barred. If they say it isn't and provide a date - then that is what you want to know. If they don't provide a date, but state that they will take you to court, the you can do the CCA request stating that the debt is in dispute. They then, by law, have a certain length of time to provide the information.
