Car insurance query

Hi everyone new to the forum, although have been viewing it for some time as a guest.
Probably a silly question .... BUT i'll ask it anyways .....
I've got two years no claims discount at the moment, would be three years in August.
I've just bought a new car (2nd hand), which I pick up next week, so does that mean I'll loose the eight months that I've buit up from last August??!
Cheers Riggerz

If you are staying with the same insurance company for your new car and just transfering the insurance to the new car then you keep your 8 months no claims built up so far.
If you cancel the policy and buy new one with new compnay then you would lose the 8 months.
hope that helps

As flutterby says, as long as you stay with the same company for the next 4 months there isn't a problem. You need to give them details of the new car and they are likely to charge you more if it's worth more than your old car (assuming you have comprehensive insurance or 3rd party fire and theft). It nearly always better to stay with your current insurer until you get their renewal quote when you should follow Martin's guide for getting new quotes http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance0
