My sister is doing my head in Next Directory & HSBC

Am trying my hardest to help sis get a DMP sorted. She has a Next directory account and she currently owes £1800. Are there any banks that are linked to Next? If so which ones?

She has set up a new bank account with HSBC are they connected to Next at all?

No she's stopped using it. She just showed me the statement and the appear to bank with HSBC so now she's panicking that they can take money out of her HSBC account. Is this the case?

Next are terrible at uping credit limits too.

At one point my limit was £8k and I had to keep asking them to reduce it.

I phoned them up again a few weeks ago and asked them to reduce it to £500 but they haven't and it is still at £1700.

The APR is 26.9% with a minium payment of approx 8% per month so that'll give you an idea of how much she needs to pay them each month.

If she get the catalogue delivered she'll also be charged the APR on that as it is added onto her bill

Sorry - i don't know which bank they are linked to.

First thing to do is cancel the catalogue...

Agree with Z, they'll charge you £3.50 every time one comes through.

I used to have a Next account but used to pay it off each month. However, when I started my Debt Free journey I got shot of it altogether.

How can I find out which bank they use? Any ideas?

My best friend used to work for Head Office until recently, so I can find out from her. Only thing is she lives in Australia so it might take a day or two to find out. Will email her now and see if she knows and let you know asap.

Banks can only use offset for their own account. Just make sure she cancels direct debits and the such like.

It may be worth shifting banks - some collection companies have just used debit card numbers to obtain funds.

Thanks Z. She's never paid Next by DD or using a debit card. I think she'll be OK but I just wanted to double check.

Thanks smithywilko that would be really helpful.
