how about calling the lease company and just be up front and honest with them that you are financially struggling a bit. Theres no shame in it, ask them what they can do for you rather than try to blag your way out of it. Maybe changing to a small car might be a compromise with them.

Or, if you can get out of the lease, one months lease money would be you a disposable motoring badge. This is a banger that you pick up, the only criteria is that it has a full mot and six months tax. You run it for the year on the mot even if its falling apart around your ears and then sell it on ebay for spares or repairs.

If its sitting at the station most of the time, nobody will care if it gets dented, rusty or dirty and its not your main car. Being a banger it will be cheap to insure and run if you pick something like a 10 year old polo, for say £500 it will do you a year easily.

Think of the the money you will save and its not like anybody will see you in it as family days out you will take the other car.

Unfortunately not, my priority once we're debt free is to start building up savings.

Priority, when your debt free is to pay off the mortgage mate, see the mortgage free wanabee board, then give it makkakaracha for the rest of your life with no overheads to worry about. LOL
