Ring bartering

I'm a Brummy so I am luckily local to the famous jewellery quarter. I have been looking around at the price of rings on the internet and they are rather expensive! I have to have an 18ct ring as my engagement ring is 18ct but OH can get a 9ct ring. As there as so many manufactures in the jewellery quarter, how much can/has people been able to barter down from the prices? Or any cheap websites please?

We went to the jewelry quarter for a look but the rings we liked in one shop that were 18ct were about £400 each! We had the little one with us so we couldn't really browse much, ended up spotting the rings we like in Warren James for £150 for the pair. We put the deposit on them right away...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Our local jewellers will get 18ct white gold men's rings made for about 300 quid
I ordered mine from a shop called Swag in Watford - it was paladium and only cost £2800 -

We had ours off ebay. A 24 carat gold ring which was made in 1939, i paid something like £25 for it, when we received it we took it to a jewellers who confirmed its carat and date (just to be on the safe side)
If you decide on vintage jewellery though be sure it matches your engagement ring, my engagement ring was modern and the golds were different (wedding ring was a deeper colour) so i now only wear my wedding ring0 -
got quoted £245 for a 3mm court 18 ct gold ring for me and £230 for a 6mm 9ct gold court ring for H2B. Thought that was quite pricey tho so am still looking. That was in a family jewellers in Fife - well known for excellent quality....but £475!! Am I being unrealistic to think we could get cheaper?Flugellover0

For a starting point I have been using a ebay seller recommended by another person on this boards for cheapness http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Elma-Jewellery they have 3mm 18ct gold court for £105 for slim fingers or £124 for chubby fingers and £78 slim or £80 chubby for OH's ring. These are my bench mark I am going to find my ring size out today then give the folks at the jewellery quarter a bell and see if they can beat these.0
